About the Event
Tuesday June 7th
5:30-7:30pm
In this 2 hour class would include an introduction to linocut printmaking and the tools and techniques used.
The project would be to create a small print featuring floral elements chosen by the participant. In Victorian times, all flora had a meaning, from joy and love to despair and heartbreak. I will provide my own drawings with the meaning of each element noted. Each student will be given a packet of these floral drawings that they can trace to create a bouquet image that represents a word or idea to them through the combined Victorian meanings of the elements.
We will then learn carving techniques to create the blocks, finishing up with inking and handprinting our designs. While the designs will be printed in one color, other hand coloring techniques will be shared.
